ENjoy the sea in every way possible
As Karystos is surrounded by sea, it provides the opportunity to practise every watersport you have ever dreamt of. The southern part of the Evia island has an astonishing under-water life that you could discover by both diving from a boat or the shore onwards. Allegedly, you will able to spot Octopuses, Moray Eels, Scorpionfishes and with a bit of luck some magnificent Sea Turtles. In addition, you have the opportunity to go sailing around the astonishing Petari islands which are surrounded by surreal cristal clear blue water (from the Aegean Sea). Furthermore, you can onto sea and catch marvellous fish, go swimming or snorkling or if you are interested in taking off the edge a bit more you can always go kitesurfing or windsurfing at one of Europe’s most aerate lagoons .
Enjoy Nature
Hiking trails, cycling & private beaches
Hike at the Dimosaris Gorge, which is claimed to be the most beautiful and diverse gorge of the Evia Island. For 2000 years already this gorge was found to be used as one of the first mountain paths of the island. This, is for sure a “must do” for anyone that can appreciate nature’s beauty. Furthermore, there is a fascinating mountain trail that will lead you directly to the Ochi mountain’s peaks. Consequently, if you descend further down this path you will discover green ravines under stone old bridges and eventually end up at some unspoilt desert beaches. As if this was not enough yet, the area is known for its dozens of small ‘private’ beaches were you can spend the day without having to worry about other people interrupting your peace. Last, for the cyclists and mountainbikers among us, there are plenty of routes which you can find on this website: www.karystosbikes.gr
